Disease Management
Home carers are trained how to assess a patient, take vital signs, disease management and how to manage the home care program. This includes a variety of diseases, eg stroke patients, cardiac incident patients, cancer patients, Dementia and Parkinson disease.
Disease management also includes:
*TB and medical Management
* Cancer and medical Management
*The aged often develop diabetes.
The students are taught how to recognise signs of glucose fluctuations, test if needed and adjust meals so the G.I content is monitored.
Lectures on Home Care
Home care lectures include practical attention to assessing the patient. Assessment of wounds is needed to enable professionals to be called in or for the treatment plan to be changed. Students are encouraged to think out the box while applying the basic instruction of assessment.
